Hi, 

sorry for essentially vanishing for two weeks, but Murphy hit. Thanks to
Sébastien and Rafael, the Octave transition went pretty smoothly. 

I will be essentially away for another week (Murphy hit twice, I have
some challenging deadlines at work), so feel free to progress as you see
fit. I think that semidef-oct can be removed and octave-parallel as
well. 

I do have access to an alpha chroot, so I'll look at the -mieee problem
there later.
