As I said, I didn't see this problem. I also don't use gnuplot to
plot. Have you tried with the OpenGL backend? If you want this to work
for gnuplot, looks to me like you have to file a bug with the
ghostscript package to use a different default font.

Also, I'm font blind, so I don't personally care about this problem either.
