[Pkg-ofed-devel] State of OFED for Debian squeeze

Hi,

I’m trying to understand the status of OFED packages. With the approach
of the squeeze release it would be nice to have a consistent and working
Infiniband stack in Debian.

First of all, which version of OFED do you intend to ship for squeeze? I
see that OFED 1.5.1 is packaged in the SVN, but has not been uploaded.
Some 1.5.1 packages, like libibverbs, have been uploaded but with a
different changelog than the one in the SVN. Which version is being
worked on? Some packages like libnes are ready in the SVN but haven’t
been uploaded to unstable yet.

I’m also wondering the state of the relationship between userspace and
kernel modules. Does the 2.6.32 kernel as shipped by Debian work with
the OFED stack at version 1.4.2 or 1.5.1? Will this stack go on working
with newer kernels? Will we need a patched kernel with the latest
drivers? I guess that’s the purpose of the ofa-kernel package.

If a number of sponsored uploads can help get to a consistent state, I’m
eager to help - we will need a decent IB stack for our own purposes at
my work, anyway.

Cheers,
