[Pkg-openldap-devel] problem with slapd stop

Dear slapd mantainers,

I am running a slapd server on a debian etch machine (openldap version 
2.3.29) which holds a very big database. I have remarked that every time 
I shut down the server by means of the init.d script or reboot the 
machine, the database gets corrupted. I think it depends of the "--retry 
10" parameter in the init.d script which, as written in the 
start-stop-daemon script man page, causes to send suddenly a KILL signal 
to the slapd process. I have tried to modify it with "--retry -15/30", 
as consequence the slapd process takes much more time to complete the 
shutdown, I think because it has to perform a close operation to keep 
the database consistent, but I can restart it without any issue.

I hope this can be of any help in building a more robust slapd package.
