FWIW, I've just been approached by someone at Canonical about getting the
libldap2 patch ported forward to gnutls12, so they can drop gnutls11 for
dapper.  If my brain's going to be in ldap-gnutls mode anyway, I might as
well put some effort into the fix-up for openldap 2.3 as well; it might even
be that Canonical is willing to co-fund such work, though I haven't asked
them.

Also, for the record, I did give Stephen Frost permission to distribute the
current patch under the OpenLDAP license after upstream rejected it for
licensing reasons, but I'm not sure this ever got communicated to them
because ITS gives me hives.
