Rephrasing in less confrontational language:

The OpenLDAP documentation shows examples for loading modules where the
path to the .la file, including the .la at the end, is given in the sample
configuration.  In the absence of .la files, this won't work and users
will be confused.  While Debian could adjust the documentation to match,
it's probably better in this case to ship the .la files so that the
documented examples will work.
