[Pkg-openldap-devel] OpenLDAP unable to restart if machine stopped unexpectedly

Hello,

I have met an issue with OpenLDAP and Berkeley DB packaged with Debian Etch (I have downloaded debian-40r1-i386-DVD-1.iso, debian-40r1-i386-DVD-2.iso and debian-40r1-i386-DVD-3.iso).

If machine is rebooted violently (e.g after power failure), slapd service fails when machine restarts, because of a lock of Berkeley DB, or does not serve any more client requests.

I found this discussion about the issue : http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-software/200605/msg00292.html <http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-software/200605/msg00292.html>

When trying to deinstall libdb-4.3, I have the confirmation that slapd depends on this version of bdb.

For my needs, using libdb-4.4 for OpenLDAP instead of libdb-4.3 corrects this "machine restart" bug.

Would it be possible to make slapd package depend on libdb-4.4 in Debian Etch ?

Thank you very much,

Jérémy MATOS
