No, sorry, this will be pretty much infeasible as I neither have my corrupt
certificate chain nor any system easily available that I could turn into an
unstable machine. BUT I took a thorough look at the respective code in openldap
2.4 and it seems that the SASL code has been split from the binding code (it was
pretty much interweaved), so this should not happen anymore.

At any rate, my fix will definitely not apply to openldap 2.4 for the above
reason.
