[Pkg-openldap-devel] GNUTLS, slapd, and TLS_CACERTDIR

I understand that the GNUTLS version of slapd that ships with Debian 6
(slapd 2.4.23-7.2). Doesn't support the configuration directive
TLS_CACERTDIR. I've learned a lot about CA certificates in Debian in
figuring this out, so I'm back working again; but I don't understand
*why* TLS_CACERTDIR is not implemented, especially since this thread
from 2003 indicates that it should be:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=205609

Thanks for any info you can provide. Again, I've already found
/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt and am using TLS_CACERT just fine.
I just want to understand the state of things.
