Actually the other way round. I need libmesh and it depends on petsc.
There are two problems with petsc: it fails to build and also the one
in the archive seems to be broken. Libmesh also fails to build due to
the broken petsc in the archive. So, imho, just fixing petsc seems to
be enough.

But I am not sure if it is openmpi related.
