Yes, that's the way to go, I think. These are not that trivial to change
in openmpi but I'm working on that. Debhelper stuff needs to be
adjusted, so it shouldn't that hard to do in theory; one just has to
watch out for what goes where.

I think so too. We keep the original names and handle libmpi.so via u-a.
This seems to be the only intersecting library.
