Ok, I reverted my checkout of svn to the one of the previous release to
obtain the last 'working' package build.  I then added the 1.2.8-1 entry to
changelog and created a new one for the bugfix 1.2.8-2.  That is all pretty
manual -- maybe I should have created a branch?  In effect, I took r137 +
Sylvestre's 1.2.8-1 changelog entry (but no other changes from 138 to 145)
and committed a new changelog entry.  

The resulting packages are all close in size with the exception of the -dev
package which may need some postprocessing for the 1.2.8-1 static builds:

I successfully installed 1.2.8-2 packages (apart from -dbg) on my system and
will upload 1.2.8-2 now, but I will only commit the modified changelog.
Sylvestre's changes are all still current -- could someone volunteer to debug
them?
