Standard C apps built against 1.2.8 run, but issue a warning suggesting
re-linking.

Rmpi once again seg.faults on start. This may be specific to Open MPI, Rmpi
and Ubuntu (as it has been before) but I don't have time to dig into this now
and will stay with my local 1.2.8 packages at work til I get a chance to play
with it.  I will test Rmpi at home (Debian, i386) and expect that to work as
before.

It's actually just one about line 131 of the orterun / mpiexec manual page:
.B -cf \f |--cartofile <arg0>\fP.
which should be, I guess
.B -cf\fR,\fP --cartofile \fR<arg0>\fP.
