"postinstall" is a part of upstream tarball and it is not installed into 
binary package so we are all good here.

Indeed. Package behaviour did not change in that regards.

No, I'm still struggling with broken "opennebula" packaging and learning 
about how Opennebula _should_ work... I'm not in position to test properly 
yet. However I compared tarballs and found only few changes so I believe it 
should not break anything.

That's pretty much what I'm asking for. ;)

In particular I'm not 100% sure if new ruby script have comprehensive list of 
Depends...
