Again, all these “missing” dependencies can be installed in a Wheezy or
a Squeeze system without the need to rebuild them.

Not at all, just the proper lines in /etc/apt/sources.list (with the
proper pinning in /etc/apt/preferences{,.d/}) do the trick..

I don’t stand on the way of anyone willing to do so (will it be inside
or outside the team), just pointing that I find it a pointless exercise
for now, so won’t probably do it myself for the time being, but will try
to ensure owncloud will stay usable in Wheezy (and Squeeze) as long as
possible (if this assertion becomes untrue, I may also be interested in
a proper backport).
