ah. Well if the FHS people are happy with it, then I guess we should
be to - thanks for finding the updated link.

For the record, I disagree though - I think the pci ids file is simply
a data file that varies over time, and therefore should be stored in
/var. That's probably because I've convinced myself that only package
managers should be allowed to write to /usr/[!local], though I see no such
requirement in policy.

My concern was with people who mount /usr read-only which is not
something I do.
