Summary: Upload libmodule-packaged-perl (and dependency chain)

Initial Comment:
Heya,

The packages are in the CVS repository and ready for an upload to the Debian archive (where they will stay in the NEW queue for about 5 ... months :-/). Please check if everything is OK, then upload.

Marc

Ok, just uploaded the other two. You'll see the archive bot's messages on pkg-perl-maintainers at l.a.d.o soon.

Well, I just uploaded (more or less by accident) libparse-debian-packages-perl_0.01

(The accident is that "cvs-debrelease --dopts -s" should only simulate the upload, but it looked pretty unsimulated)

We are kinda lucky, the package was ok and tested (by me, ruoso and HE I guess), and the uploaders: field matched the changelog entry. I'll fix the uploaders field with the other packages and upload them too.

Did you commit? I updated now and the control file seems to be the same...

The dependencies are not necessary. I added the versions in the Depends line after i built and installed the package, but didn't check what packages are in sid. Fixed in CVS.

I suggest we don't use versioned depends unless we really know they are needed. I assume they are put there by dh-make-perl, but we should change that.
HE, what's your comment on that (as the dh-make-perl expert)?

The three packages were correctly built, no lintian warnings or errors.

There is just a little warning, but I think it is not grave:
dpkg-gencontrol: warning: unknown substitution variable ${misc:Depends}

libcpan-distnameinfo-perl and libparse-debian-packages installed ok, but libmodule-packaged-perl didn't install:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libmodule-packaged-perl:
 libmodule-packaged-perl depends on libio-zlib-perl (>= 1.08); however:
  Version of libio-zlib-perl on system is 1.01-2.
 libmodule-packaged-perl depends on libsort-versions-perl (>= 1.50); however:
  Version of libsort-versions-perl on system is 1.5-1.

I have the latest sid release of libio-zlib-perl and libsort-versions-perl, the package will be uninstallable.

This version dependancy is really necessary? I had installed Module::Packaged from CPAN before with this version of debian packages and everything was fine.

HE found the error and fixed it, please check and test.

I found a problem with libmodule-packaged-perl. When I build it, it says:

/usr/bin/perl Build.PL installdirs=vendor
Checking whether your kit is complete...
Looks good
ERROR: File::Slurp: Prerequisite File::Slurp isn't installed
ERRORS/WARNINGS FOUND IN PREREQUISITES. You may wish to install the versions
 of the modules indicated above before proceeding with this installation.

But does not abort. The final package then has (for some reason) no "Depends:"-field in it's control file.

I guess you have to change the rules so that it fails when the prerequisites are not fulfilled.
