Sounds reasonable.
My only concern is that some other packages might rely on the patched
behaviour after almost 5 years.
If I'm not mistaken we have:
libcatalyst-perl
libcgi-uploader-perl
libdata-formvalidator-perl
libemail-mime-perl
libmail-box-perl
libmime-lite-perl
mime-construct
which build depend on MIME::Types (and no package that Depends: on
it).
