I've played around a bit:
* The subfolders are claimed to have the same type as the "top"
  folder.
* The "top" folder is detected correctly as type "mh" if it is not
  empty, but as "mbox" if it contains no mails but only folders.

At the moment I'm not sure if this is the desired behaviour and/or if
can be improved; I guess auto-detection if _empty_ folders (as in:
containing no messages) is a bit difficult ...
