I suspect the point of confusion is that, in Debian, bug severities are
per-package.  So this bug is marked as serious for the
libtest-valgrind-perl package specifically, which is correct since the
package is currently not usable with the current valgrind.  It doesn't
mean it's serious for the distribution as a whole in the way that I think
Vincent is thinking of.  It just means that we wouldn't ship this package
with a Debian release were we to make one right now.

Vincent, thank you very much for reading bug traffic like this!  It's
really wonderful to have upstream authors who are interested in following
the packaging of their software.
