After a lot of debugging involving all sorts of pain and suffering and
ignoring valgrind much to my detriment, olasd and I managed to isolate
this to a bug in the XS code.  A patch will be sent upstream and is
currently applied in git.  Unfortunately, there is still an error (I
believe a separate one) with the threads test failing intermittently due
to a mishandling of read() in the underlying nanomsg library, so I can't
do a release to correct this issue yet.  I will open bugs in Debian and
upstream to track that issue as well.

Sorry for the delay on the fix; this one was waaaay over my head.
