<div dir="ltr"><div>Package: libfile-mimeinfo-perl<br>Version: 0.27-1<br>Severity: normal<br><br>Dear Maintainers!<br><br>/usr/bin/mimeopen, working fabulously for downloaded files of<br>application/octet-stream mime type, should include a<br>/usr/share/applications/mimeopen.desktop file like the following:<br><br>    [Desktop Entry]<br>    Type=Application<br>    Version=1.0<br>    Name=mimeopen<br>    GenericName=Open with default application<br>    Comment=Mime-type and file extension-aware file opener<br>    Exec=mimeopen -n %F<br>    Icon=system-run<br>    Terminal=false<br>    MimeType=application/octet-stream<br><br>This will allow e.g. Iceweasel to exploit mimeopen's stated ability to open<br>application/octet-stream files (which browsers often receive when<br>appropriate response headers are not sent) and the latter will open<br>the file with preferred application without problem.<br><br>Since one can't really sensibly associate application/octet-stream with<br>any single application, the attached file most elegantly solves the issue<br>of Iceweasel proposing to open, for one ffs example, downloaded PDF<br>files in VLC or tar.gz archives in audacious!<br></div><div><br>Thanks!<br></div></div>
