Thanks for those changes. Some questions/remarks:
 - I don't know any advantage of using HTML entities over the matching
   Unicode characters. Why should we e.g. replace “—” with “&mdash;”?
 - You may want to set your $EDITOR to highlight trailing whitespaces,
   no need to add some. :)
 - Do we need the “-s” option of git-commit?
