Sounds good to me. Not having to install Gtk and all that stuff is imho a very
good thing.

No, enblend is a recommendation. One can perfectly use hugin without enblend
(at least in versions << 0.7 - I haven't looked at 0.7 yet, but I cannot image
it's a strict dependency by now) but, in all but uncommon cases, both tools
will be used together - which is exactly the definition of "Recommends:".

Side note: I was going to try to get autopano-sift into Debian-Unofficial. I
will talk about that with Daniel (panthera - the D-U maintainer) in the near
future.
