This is a real shame, it sounds like it is too late to catch the 
freeze.

There are snapshots in fedora-9 (enblend 2008-05-29 & hugin 
2008-05-28) apparently without problems, so these are 'good' - but 
fedora doesn't build on as many platforms as debian, and this doesn't 
help with possible toolchain/library differences.
