Package: php4
Version: 4:4.3.4-4
Severity: normal

Neither aeromail nor squirrelmail log into a uw-imapd daemon
correctly. Other IMAP clients (e.g. mutt) are fine so it's not a
problem with the IMAP daemon. These are the syslog entries for the
imap daemon when using squirrelmail:

May 22 16:29:09 delysid imapd[10031]: imap service init from 127.0.0.1
May 22 16:29:12 delysid imapd[10031]: Command stream end of file, while reading line user=mark host=localhost [127.0.0.1]

and aeromail:

May 22 16:30:39 delysid imapd[10275]: imap service init from 127.0.0.1
May 22 16:30:39 delysid imapd[10275]: Command stream end of file, while reading line user=??? host=UNKNOWN

Looks like they both drop the connection. Aeromail depends on the
php4-imap package and squirrelmail doesn't so maybe it's some more
basic problem with sockets rather than particularly an IMAP problem?
There's nothing in the apache error log from these programs. The page
passed back to the browser is just a standard "login failed" type
message.

Cheers,
Mark.

I uninstalled squirrelmail, but aeromail has been working fine for me.
It's so long ago that I can't remember if I had to change anything to
get it working or if some upgrade made it work.

So I guess there's not much point keeping this bug open....

Cheers,
Mark.
