I've already raised all the objections that I had to that point.  The above
comment was not an objection to having a separate pear package, it was just
an objection to having the pear package *maintained* separately from php
because the two packages need to work in close concert.  (E.g., pear install
paths need to line up with the paths specified in php.ini and php5-dev.)

So basically, I don't think people not wanting to be involved in PHP
maintenance is a very good argument for splitting the package.
