what patch?

no it is not possible to have php 5.2.6 in etch.  yes it is possible to have a 
fix for a specific problem backported to the version in etch.  however, 
someone needs to do the work to isolate the leak and identify where in the 
code the problem is, ideally followed by fixing it :)
