Hey Dan,
No worries, was afraid my friendly tone would get lost in the email.
You have inspired me to put an update on these ITPs before heading out
to a 12 - 13 hour work day :).... Thank you for the inspiration,
sometimes we have so much on our plates a year is over done before we
know it. And believe it or not, I actually did understand somehow
that you didn't intend to take the packages away, there was no
"threat" felt. More accurate is that I have been working on getting
those packages done and out into pub for so long now (in between lots
of other projects), it felt disappointing to not have shared those
efforts with you, both share them and save someone else the effort.
Time is precious... completely my deal for not getting these out to a
public repository by now.... ( -5 for me!)
Basic next steps:
Current notes on this package: It is currently in process of being
uploaded to ALIOTH public repository. Post peer review/inspection it
will be determined if it remains at ALIOTH or heads into getting into
Debian packages list itself. (Some of the PHP packages have licensing
issues.
If you would like access to these packages please feel free to email.
More information will be forthcoming as uploads to public repository
and other movement....
Lastly, I haven't been able to get full out permission from Yann on
maintianing and uploading to Yann. Although way back we decided to
help each other out and co-maintain. He already had his packages
complete when I started mine, they are just hiding out on a public
server somewhere but as a co-maintainer I had the link and grabbed his
first cut at packages and have since maintained them. Since I didn't
get a response from him to move forward on the Alioth plan I contacted
him with a note letting him know that I would be doing an NMU
maintenance on his package. By the way, when you package on someone
else's ITP, NMU (non maintainer update) is the way to go... that is if
you get no response from them. It keeps version numbers clear, among
other things.
Gotta run...
