[php-maint] Problems with PHP5 Apache2 module on Lenny

Hi,
Various searches have found a duplicate problem nor an answer. Simply
put I cannot get apache2 to start when the php5 module is loaded:

failed!
I've tried reinstalling libapache2-mod-php5 and libxml2. Neither
action has made any difference. Are you able to provide any advice as
to how to resolve this problem?
Below are details about my setup and the actions I've taken to try and
resolve the problem. If you need any further information please don't
hesitate to ask.
