More accurate is that I have been working on getting those packages done and out into pub for so long now (in between lots of other projects), it felt disappointing to not have shared those efforts with you, both share them and save someone else the effort. Although way back we decided to help each other out and co-maintain. He already had his packages complete when I started mine, they are just hiding out on a public server somewhere but as a co-maintainer I had the link and grabbed his first cut at packages and have since maintained them. Since I didn't get a response from him to move forward on the Alioth plan I contacted him with a note letting him know that I would be doing an NMU maintenance on his package. By the way, when you package on someone else's ITP, NMU (non maintainer update) is the way to go... that is if you get no response from them.
