This bug has been fixed with upstream support available in 5.3.x and later.<br>

There's no reason to beat a dead horse. Support for bundled GD will<br>
not be enabled in lenny (it's not even possible since lenny gets only<br>
security updates) and unstable/squeeze is already using new php5-gd<br>
module which can use external libgd and still provide extra<br>
functionality (thanks to Pierre).<br>
