:) - it could have used a rebase to squash some commits done while i
was trying to figure out the best way to handle removal of the windows
binary, but i had pushed to git.d.o some commits already by mistake so
it was late to rewrite the history :S

other than that, i just did a final build test on a couple of different
systems, prepared changelog for release and pushed the final commit and
the missing tag to git.d.o - it should be ready for release.
