[Pkg-puppet-devel] Bug#507512: Leaking FDs

The output I sent is there while waiting for next run; any daemon that
has been started by puppet will, unless it explicitly closes
extraneous FDs itself when it forks, keep all those FDs open forever.

This is bad because it wastes system resources, clutters up the output
of lsof, makes it hard to tell what is actually going on on your
system etc.

It's bad essentially for the same reasons a memory leak is bad, but
also gets in the way of seeing what connections your system is
actually using.

Cheers,

Nick
