Thanks for the reply! I didn't mean to imply that you all, as the
"Google contingent", were the ones who made that comment. I figured that
the somewhat difficult to parse and haphazard nature of that document
was due to people trying to summarize or take notes from a meeting and I
am quite familiar with note-taking having significant transcription
problems. It just struck me as an odd comment in a strategy session and
thought it was a particularly bad way to approach
collaboration. Typically when something like this is said, it stems from
a misunderstanding and it is better to correct that.

Yeah, me too! I'm on a number of teams, and this is the best one. I
really appreciate that you all got involved (and are actually doing
things).

I actually originally only agreed to join the team if other people were
going to be active in it, as I was not interested in being the sole
maintainer of puppet. But found that after I joined I was the only one
active, that was a bit discouraging. However I figured with a little
persistence, the team would rebuild itself and I just needed to keep
things going until then.

That is cool. I actually like how the Ubuntu/Debian setup allows for
different depths of contribution, for those who wish to dive deeper
there is the possibility.

I agree, and this is why I thought it might be worth bringing this up
discuss how it got presented that way. The Debian/Ubuntu relationship,
while it has been strained at times, can be a healthy collaboration for
everyone. I find that when comments, such as this one, are brought up
(on either the Debian or the Ubuntu "side"), they need to be called-out
and dealt with so that they aren't some festering persistent resentment
that results in an unhealthy situation caused by a misunderstanding.

Thanks for your response!
