I bring good news for a change. I seem to have found the problem sort of.
I decided to check the differences in files for myself and since there were
only 6 files or so with differences I decided to one by one try compiling with
the updated cvs versions of the file and starting over if it failed. With some
luck on my side I only had to do it twice. While I don't know the exact cause
because I'm no programmer. When I replaced mlme.c with the "newer" one
and compiled it started working again. The strange part is the "newer" one
is actually dated 02/26/2008 which is of course older than the date of the
debian package. So the question is did you change that file in packaging
it or did they revert to an older version after finding this or some other bug?
I'll wait for a reply before doing any more testing since you may know more
than me on this subject. However, it shouldn't be too hard to mess around
with it and figure out the exact lines that break it since I believe there are
only a few lines of changes.
