haml-mode.el ends with

  (add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.haml$" . haml-mode))

which probably should be "\\.haml\\'" the same as in
/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50haml-elisp.el

The different pattern makes an extra entry in auto-mode-alist for
"\\.haml$" where just the "\\.haml\\'" would be enough.
