No I've got a bunch of member servers running samba on debian, but haven't
got anything with a similar IIS setup accessing a share.

I'll give your patch a try on the member server, when I get a chance in the
next day or so.  I assume the patch applies to the 3.0.23d release.

It was ~64mb at that time, which I know isn't explained by the talloc dump.
Nevertheless it was very strange to see the number of those "struct passwd
contains     76 bytes" grow seemingly out of control.

Is anything else apparent from the pool-usage dump?  Did the valgrind output
help at all?  That was just a 10-15min snapshot w/ valgrind, and a very slow
running one at that.
