[Pkg-samba-maint] new conf file refused interactively still installed with new date

You probably mean "samba".

samba is now using ucf to handle smb.conf changes. That might be
related. We may need more information than those you provided, though:

- version of the samba package before and after the update
- other smb.conf* files in /etc/samba

Please also note that an accidental upload of samba 3.2.0~pre2
happened to unstable and will be reverted pretty soon (blame /me for
the mistake). This upload  theoretically didn't change smb.conf,
though.
