OK, it took a bit longer than expected, but I now have a virtualbox instance
with samba and ldap inside that can be used to reproduce the problem.

I'm uploading it somewhere, but it'll take a while, it's about 600M.

I'll get back to you with the URL and suchlike when the upload is complete;
this was just to let you know that I haven't forgotten. :)
