The bug should probably be reassigned, if it lies somewhere else than
samba (a key point here is that samba installs are working for ages
and that nothing changed in maintainer scripts for months).

The problem is: what package?

I haven't investigated this issue more than what you saw in my first
answer, so as of now, I don't have any more clue about it..:)
