What package are you starting from? I would suggest using the 3.4.7
package from backports.org instead of the 3.5.2 package from
experimental.

I personnally plan to work on a lenny backport of 3.5.2 (which would
be distributed on http://pkg-samba.alioth.debian.org just like other
unofficial backports we already provide) and I even started working on
it, IIRC.

You should look in branches/samba/backports-unofficial though I'm not
completely sure whether I committed my work in progress there (and I'm
not online to check).

I think I'll work more deeply on this during SambaXP next week.

Please don't file a bug report as this doesn't apply to any of the
official Debian packages of Samba.
