Thanks to Steve's step by step HOWTO, I've just been able to
successfully built packages for cifs-utils 4.4 from the bzr
repository.

I didn't go further because I know that Steve wants to first check a
little bit more carefully the status of the upstream source code and
fears regressions...

I had to build local packages for bzr 2.2b1 in order to avoid
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bzr-git/+bug/532631. That also required me
to rebuild bzr-git as the git-import plugin doesn't accept working
with 2.2. So, by trial and error, I modified its info.py file to
explicitely allow it to work with 2.2, based on comments I've seen
that mention no API change. And, it apparently worked..:-)

(now I can add "BZR wizard" and "Python expert" to my resume)

We'll probably talk about this in more details, but I just wanted to
inform you abou tthis, people... As usual, SambaXP is always a very
productive week for me..:-)
