Don't worry, I'm not about to start uploading stuff without a good look
at it around here, and I'll aim at experimental first, in any case.  I
just figured this step might take a little bit of time, and wanted to
avoid round-trips at the end of the process.

I'm also really keen to be able to get 4.4.1 or 4.3.next into unstable
on the 12th without delay, which is why I'm practising my debian skills
now.

Who knows, if this goes well, along with our other interested packager,
we might finally be near the end of our packaging drought... ;-)
