This is exactly the right place to ask. Doesn't the paraview package
in testing work for you?

http://packages.debian.org/lenny/paraview

let us know the result. The package in my private repository is not
updated anymore, since paraview is in unstable, so I just concentrate
on making the package in sid work. Apart fromt he known problem with
help, it should be just working.

So try to compile it in pbuilder, it works for me. If it doesn't
though, please prepare a patch to our svn repo and we can apply it.
(Last time I tried to compile paraview, it worked though).

Any help with the package would be greatly appreciated. No problem if
you never maintained any package in Debian, we'll help you with
everything.

Ondrej
