well, the current build system in debian is a bit interesting, and
Camm (the current maintainer) currently is a bit busy, so we'll have
to attack this without his help for now.

Apparently the build system did change upstream between 3.6 and 3.8;
Camm currently does use dejagnu to automate the interactive configury,
so the change breaks the build of the debian package. And honestly, I
couldn't figure out yet, where to change things to consistently change
optimization flags.

I won't have the time to work on atlas anymore; the old package didn't
build on some architectures, and so it won't be that bad if we do
loose another one or two and build with blas and lapack instead for
now.
