Well, I finished most of the work (completed rewrite). I believe that the
current implementation is easy enough to let other people
to contribute.

There is two things to do:
* fix the bug that Dirk has with the amd64 package (seems problem of make
install). i haven't been able to reproduce the problem on my 64 bits
computer.
* some minor stuff in the manpages that Dirk showed me.

For now, I am driving from Paris to Mongolia (I am in Ouzbekistan for now).
Therefor, it is pretty hard for me to debug here (especially
since the atlas build is taking about a decade to build packages). I will
be back in Paris on the 1 of september.
Anyway, if someone wants to have a look on the two points, please do. My
work is available on the pkg-scicomp subversion.
