Package: libsdl1.2debian
Version: 1.2.13-4+b1
Severity: normal

Calling SDL_SYS_CDStatus() with a DVD inserted in the drive results in
the following messages polluting my syslog:

  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.639700] hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.639716] hdc: packet command error: error=0x54 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x05 }
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.639721] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.641129] ATAPI device hdc:
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.641139]   Error: Illegal request -- (Sense key=0x05)
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.641145]   Cannot read medium - incompatible format -- (asc=0x30, ascq=0x02)
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.641150] The failed "Read Subchannel" packet command was:
  Jul 18 12:04:28 toroia kernel: [143811.641151]   "42 02 40 01 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 "

Would it be possible for SDL_SYS_CDStatus() to either check for a DVD
before calling ioctl(CDROMSUBCHNL), or use something like
CDROM_DRIVE_STATUS or CDROM_DISC_STATUS instead?
