looks like 1.2 libsdl would be here forever.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for working on libsdl2. I just saw the new release when it
made it's way down to testing today.

Around 6 years back when libsdl2 came into the archive, it was thought
that gradually 1.2 would cease to exist.

I just bought a newish system few days back, put debian on it (a
net-install) and saw that libsdl1.2 is still in Debian.

I read the thread at
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-sdl-maintainers/2017-November/002661.html
which does explain a bit about why the things are the way they are but
still does not go fully into the details.

I saw that there are still a huge number of packages which depend on
libsdl1.2 to do their work.

It would be nice if we could pare down the list a bit so that libsdl2
could be used a bit more.

I also looked at the transition tracker
https://release.debian.org/transitions/ to see if anything is in the
offing before coming here.

So is the idea to maintain both the libraries during buster cycle or
move to 2.0 . I could help with talking with upstream of various
projects who depends on libsdl1.2 about if they have any plans to
support libsdl2 and if yes when ?

Also with SDL 2.0.4 having better android support the support should
be for the newer versions.

https://wiki.libsdl.org/SDL_SysWMinfo

Looking forward to know what the maintainers think ?
