Hey people,

this patch got applied a while ago, which makes /bin/login being
provided by the login package and passwd Depend on it. Thus,
shadow/passwd/login is broken on Debian GNU/Hurd right now, and
consequently postinsts trying to add users (like openssh, hurd) fail and
thus installation of Debian GNU/Hurd is impossible right now.

What was the rationale for switching to shadow for login?

Just removing /bin/login from the Hurd package is not enough, the login
shell will just execute shadow's login binary and fail miserably.

Is anybody going to provide a solution for the hurd package in the next
couple of days? If not, I will request this to be reverted.

thanks,

Michael
